Ohio Health Care Association
The new Medicare reimbursement system known as the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) was effective on October 1, 2019, which was one of the biggest clinical and reimbursement changes that the Post-Acute Industry has seen in over 20 years. This session will focus on factors and programs that impact Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) from a compliance, clinical, and reimbursement perspective. It will provide an in-depth look at the challenges SNFs are currently facing, provide a high-level overview on the Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) and SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP) to show the impact of quality and compliance on reimbursement, include practical examples from Medicare Part A record reviews, reveal common Minimum Data Set (MDS) coding opportunities, discuss ICD-10 coding, and show how diagnosis subjectivity and selection plays a significant role in PDPM. This session will include the estimated financial impact on SNFs based on assessment, performance and compliance under this new reimbursement system.Expand summary
