Ohio Health Care Association
The focus of this session is to discuss the current issues surrounding the mental health needs of clients and staff in LTC’s and ICF’s. The current pandemic has caused significant disruption in the lives of our staff and patients. At the bare minimum, social restrictions have isolated patients from their loved ones and many times each other. Our staff have had to wear cumbersome PPE, become ill themselves, and in many cases have lost many patients to this illness. Depression, anxiety, and caregiver fatigue has increased exponentially. In addition, research has shown that those infected with Covid are more likely to have increased mental health symptoms. The question becomes: how do we identify those patients and staff struggling and how best do we care for them?Expand summary
