Summary

To provide information and potential action items regarding survey and certification protocol and requirements, including recent changes related to requirements of participation and new PDPM reimbursement system. CMS and multiple state agencies frequently re-adjust their focus regarding procedures and processes for surveys. Periodic CMS releases change the interpretation of existing regulations and understanding the changes results in positive outcomes for facilities. Changes in the regulatory focus and the reflecting changes in the operational processes for skilled nursing facilities require knowledgeable managers and leaders.

Objectives:

  • Identify current regulatory requirements and challenges for long term care facilities, including new transmittals and other issuances.
  • Discuss how to proactively address facility challenges faced by the long term care industry.
  • Discuss the potential impact of the Office of Inspector General's work plan on post-acute care providers and also multiple governmental agencies focus on fraud prevention and targeted enforcement in the post-acute area.

Ohio Administrators: The Ohio Health Care Association is an approved provider of continuing education credit by the Ohio Board of Executives of Long Term Care Services and Supports (BELTSS). Approval #36525-SS-20.

Ohio Nurses: Nurses please note any continuing education that has been approved by BELTSS (or any other accredited body) can be accepted by the Ohio Board of Nursing in the State of Ohio. Nurses may use this continuing education to meet their licensure requirements. Please refer to OBN continuing education rules 4723-14-01 thru 4723-14-19.
