OSHA inspections are underway in Ohio triggered by the unfortunate hospitalization and fatality of COVID-infected healthcare workers. Unfortunately some of these inspections have resulted in citations and fines around respiratory protection. This webinar will provide all OHCA members with an understanding of when COVID-cases are considered “work related” under current Department of Labor guidelines and when such cases must be reported to OSHA. Reporting of work-related cases to OSHA can result in further inspection and fines. In Ohio, fines have been issued for lack of a written respiratory protection policy and lack of medical evaluations to identify employees with health conditions impacting respirator use. Fit testing has also been a focus and will be discussed on this webinar. In addition to COVID-related updates and guidelines, we will also provide a quick, yet thorough review of all OSHA respiratory protection standard requirements and CDC guidelines for COVID respiratory protection. An important and timely webinar as we work to ensure OSHA compliance in our comprehensive COVID response.
